A bit of a back-story here. Trevor's Blue Toucan used to be on North Atlantic in Cape Canaveral, but his spot was a bit off the beaten path and had limited seating. Then he moved to a small strip mall on AIA not far away, but the area was not really that ideal and not very centrally located. Now Trevor can be found in an area with plenty of foot traffic, lots of seating and no problem parking...The Merritt Square Mall. Normally I wouldn't consider doing a food court review, but Trevor has always served up good food. While we will miss him in our neighborhood, we wish him thee best in his new spot. The food is Jamaican, and while his new menu is much more limited, as food court fare is wont to be, it's still very good and authentic. Classics like ackee fish and curried goat join the popular jerked chicken and pork. All served with red beans and rice as well as his cabbage slaw. Most people at the food court still head to Chick-fil-A or a slice of pizza because Jamaican food may be out of their comfort level, but they're missing a treat, and a much more nutritious meal. On our visit I asked for a half serving of the goat and pork each so I could have a more varied sample and Trevor dished it on up. My wife had the jerk chicken. Even on foam plates with tiny plastic utensils, the food was great. Of course, you kind of have to drop it a star because it's a food court and ambiance is part of the dining experience. While we'll miss his full menu, and he made a great Ruben for lunch, we wish Trevor the best of luck at his new location.
